Field Execution Workflow

Key Stages of Concrete Pavement Construction

The following is a high-level workflow. The actual method, sequence, equipment and acceptance requirements must comply with approved drawings, contract specifications and the accepted method statement.

STAGE 01

Foundation & DLC Readiness

Verify the approved underlying layer, line, level, crossfall, surface condition and drainage provisions before proceeding.

STAGE 02

Concrete Production

Confirm approved mix design, calibrated batching equipment, aggregate moisture corrections and production records.

STAGE 03

Paving & Finishing

Control delivery, placement, vibration, slab geometry, surface finishing and texture as specified.

STAGE 04

Joints, Curing & Acceptance

Complete joint operations, curing, strength testing, surface checks and required inspection documentation.

Site Quality Management

Concrete Pavement QA/QC Checklist

Use these inspection areas to structure site quality checks for DLC and PQC. Apply the test frequencies and acceptance criteria specified in the contract and approved ITP/QAP.

  • Approval of subgrade and underlying pavement layer
  • Survey control, line, level and crossfall
  • Approved DLC/PQC mix design and trial mixes
  • Calibration of batching and weighing systems
  • Aggregate moisture correction and water control
  • Concrete consistency and fresh-concrete checks
  • Transportation, delivery and placing time records
  • Layer or slab thickness verification
  • Paver operation, vibration and finishing checks
  • Surface texture and regularity inspection
  • Joint layout, dowel/tie-bar details where specified
  • Timely saw cutting and joint sealing where required
  • Curing method, duration and protection of concrete
  • Specified compressive or flexural strength tests
  • Inspection requests, test reports and pour records
  • Non-conformance records and corrective actions
Engineering note: Follow the applicable MoRTH specifications, approved project drawings, contract requirements, approved mix design, ITP/QAP and Engineer's instructions. Do not assume universal values for concrete strength, slump, thickness, curing duration, joint-cutting time or testing frequency; confirm the governing requirements for the specific project.
